Welcome to Holidays With Access. I’m going to be showing you how to enjoy hoildays, or vacations if you’re in the US, when you have special considerations about access. I’m aiming at senior travellers who, like me, are not so nimble any more but still want great holidays.
I worked in the field of providing and booking holidays for disabled travellers for around 30 years, as a holiday care provider, holiday escort and Travel Counsellor. I took a break and now find that much of what I leant also applies to senior travellers who now need to think about things like steps, lifts, easy ways to get in and out of the pool, coach tours that can take rollators, bathrooms with showers not baths, or roll-in showers, and easy ways to negotiate travel itself.
With the boom of the internet and social media we are truly in the information age and if you know how to look in the right places, you can find out all you need to know to enjoy the thrill of going on holiday without dealing with too many challenges on disabled or seniors holidays.
Feel free to comment below and tell me what your concerns are, these days, that you may not have had to worry about on previous holidays. Have you perhaps had a knee replacement or have arthritis that makes travel a challenge? What concerns you and may limit your ability to take the holidays you deserve?
